The Oklahoman App Reviews

Unbalanced

I live in OKC and, therefore, subscribe to the local paper. However, the articles are far too unbalanced, with a clear slant to conservative points of view. The editorial section is not worth reading. I believe the paper would be better served to show balanced reporting, especially as OKC grows into a more diverse city. In addition, I would like to see more articles that have an international focus.

Oklahoman App

Decent app. Easy to navigate and read. Has consistently had episodes of either not wanting to load or crash while readng during the last few years. I like the newest version as far as reading. I do wish it wouldnt move me back to the earliest part of a section each time i read an article than might have been on the second or 3rd page. Glad to have the app as i get up way before the paper gets here

Frustrating

I suppose in this miracle age I should be thankful to be able to ever read my paper electronically. However, of all the apps I have and use, I battle with this one the most often. Sometimes I cant get a paper for days that I can read or that will download. It seems as though the stars have to be aligned just right. Several times a month I have to go thru the process of subscribing so that it will figure out I already have a current subscription. Many times the pictures dont match the story. When you read a story and you go back to the main body of the paper, you have to scroll all the way down and find the story you just read again to continue reading, instead of it marking the place you were. It seems like the whole thing is just a half assed attempt at staying in the electronic age. Its too bad theres not another good Oklahoma based news paper to compete, Id try the competition,

Still terribly inconsistent

I am not sure why I continue to mess with this app. I have to re-login every other day because it doesnt remember me. Several times a week, I have to delete an edition because it didnt totally load, then I have to reload it. Today, the only thing that will load is the adds-I cant even get the front page visible even though the current front page loads to the icon. I have deleted, rebooted and now I am deleting the app. Bailing wire and bubble gum wont hold this app together, it needs a total rewrite.

Great app

The app works just fine! Love reading my hometown newspaper wherever I happen to be on the road.

The Oklahoman review

The Oklahoman gets five stars. The app gets three. I am getting more comfortable with it, bit it doesnt compare to the hard copy. Ted Matson Ponca City

Reliable and user friendly, but not perfect

Let me first say that I have been and remain a long - time user of this app, and will continue to use it daily to read the paper. But updates since I first downloaded it have diminished our overall satisfaction. We use the app on my iPhone 4 and our iPad 2. On the phone, new issues downloaded automatically and I could view images such as comics in landscape orientation, making viewing easier on small screen. But landscape in later versions doesnt work. The workaround is to double tap the comic to enlarge it, then swipe across as you read. On the iPad, we view it flawlessly in all regards in landscape mode. Downloads on both devices require that we completely close both the issue being viewed and the app. On the iPad, the next new issue will download automatically, but my iPhone requires manually opening the app, pressing "select date", then pressing the top new issue to download. We have to access the Oklahoman digitally, so once we learned the tricks & workarounds, we have made our peace with the app. Thus, we give it 4 stars.

Excellent!

After a bit of a rocky start, now works fine & has become my go to hometown news app when Im on the road. Nice job!

Ok app

App works ok but have to constantly keep logging in to get the papers. Will be ok for a few days then have to log in all over again. Occasionally doesnt download the entire paper.

terrible

Doesnt work well when traveling away from home. Seems like Im constantly having to reboot or "re-subscribe", deleting and downloading again. If I could reliably get news from the home town any other way I would cancel the subscription - if I can figure out how.

Good

Dont have to go out in the cold. Makes breakfast time an enjoyable time

Love

Love my hometown paper when Im on the road!

Daily OK app is OK!

Great app!

Good App / Good Content

The App generally performs well and is much improved relative to earlier versions. Continued problems include occasional difficulty in opening the app and sudden failure while browsing, particularly when changing fron one section to another. The Oklahoman provides great news coverage.

Why dont issues get fixed?

I would have contacted Customer Service directly, if the submission function in the app worked properly! When you go to the Contact Us page, you can type a message, but the Send button becomes inactive...(sigh)...Anyway, is it not possible to format the sports agate so that it is readable on a tablet device? On an iPad, it appears that every tab is treated as a return, creating a long meaningless column of numbers and dashes. What about just posting boxscores as a photo? Im sure with so many different devices out there its pretty impossible to get it perfect for each one. But if the agate is so unreadable on an iPad, why is it even included in a download?

Save your money

This app constantly fails on mi i pad 4. Delete, reload and login are the "simple fixes" but never last for long. Its really a very frustrating experience and for $15 a month Im about done. The old fashion "paperboy" of my past was 99.9% more reliable.

Review

It is a good app.

Reviews

Wish they would bring back the tuning in column in the sports section. I wrote an email to the Oklahoman about it and their reaction was kind of "so what! ". I wish the management and editorial staff wasnt ultra conservative and right wing. But what should I expect? I thought when paper was purchased by someone else it might change. But no. Still republican claptrap. Always has been unfair to labor issues.

Good app

No problems. Works fine.
